ES12 START-UP

The ES12 launch monitor is very easy to use.

  • Turn on your ES12.
  • Push several times on the « Club » button until you reach the club number you want to hit.
  • Place the ES12 on the ground.
  • Hit your ball.
  • The ball speed will appear on the LCD screen just after impact  a few seconds, then the distance will be displayed.
  • Place a new ball and hit again.

When you want to hit another club, don’t forget to change the club number on the unit by pushing the « Club » button.

To save all your strokes of your training session, you can connect your ES12 to your phone or tab through Bluetooth.

ES12 UNIT SET UP

To get in the ES12 set up mode, push simultaneously on the « club » and « power » button when the ES12 is turned off. The LCD screen display ALT.

You can now change the altitude, the measurement unit, the type of distance to calculate (total or carry distance).

ES12 App set up

To use the ES12 application, you have to download the application, enable it and configure it.

To configure the ES12 app, go to the application’s settings section.

You will be able to set the measurement unit, as well as your Facebook and Twitter accounts to share your results on social networks.

It allows to connect the ES12 via Bluetooth to a Smartphone (iOS et Android) et offers several features.

It works exclusively with ES12 you can buy on our site. The app can be downloaded from the Apple Store and the Android Play store.

New training session

This function allows you to record up to 2000 shots on your phone or tablet (club used, ball speed, distance achieved and direction).

After creating a new training session you type balls and all your shots are saved instantly. The data is displayed on the screen of your phone and the distance achieved is communicated orally at each stroke (via the speaker of your phone or a Bluetooth headset). The direction is entered manually by the user. Each session must be saved before closing to be found in Historical Data.

Historical Data

This section allows you to find the information of all the training sessions you have recorded and perform statistics of your distance.

NB : the application takes into account all the recorded data (from all sessions) to calculate the statistics.

You can delete shots (including missed shots), send sessions via email (export is .csv format) or delete sessions. By exporting your sessions by email you can achieve more comprehensive statistics.

This feature allows to observe the distance gapping for each club from lob wedge to  iron 5.

This is particularly interesting to implement your strategy on the course and check the consistency of your swing. You can also detect abnormalities in the fitting of your clubs, or your swing.

By clicking on the average distance of a club, you access a visual rendering of the different distances recorded.

The “path view” allows you to view the average distances depending on your dispersion with the selected club.

The “data view” lets you see the details of strokes taken into account with the same club.

From this location you can easily navigate between the “average distance”, the “path view” and the “data view”.

6.1_assistantCourse Caddy

The course caddy gives you a recommendation on the club to use based on the shot to play.

To do so, it analyzes all the data recorded during training sessions. With this feature, you can check the club to play before each shot and considerably reduce the club choice errors.

Please note, you must still take into account the characteristics of the course (downhill, climb, ball lie…) and the weather conditions (wind, humidity, temperature…).

7.1_Analyse vidVideo Analysis

This function allows you to record a video, to see it frame by frame, and to compare it to a second video.

You can:

  • Use an existing video or record a new video
  • Use different colors for drawing lines of analysis
  • Compare two videos side by side
  • Register your analysis to review and compare
  • Share your videos and analysis on social networks

When shooting a video with your phone, and that it is connected to the ES12, the data information are embedded directly into the video.

  11.1_challengeSkills Challenge

The challenge allows you to effectively work your distance knowledge. 3 options are available : 10m by 10m, 5m by 5m, and random distances.

You hit 3 balls at each distance of the 10 distances proposed, for a total of 30 shots. Your accuracy is rewarded with a score taking into account the distance precision achieved with each stroke but also the direction. The maximum score is 90 points.

The challenge allows you to:

  • Effectively work your accuracy and more broadly the knowledge of your distance
  • Check your progress in the selection of clubs
  • Check your ability to play the same distance with different trajectories
  • Challenge your friends

Comparative tests

On September 4th, 2012 Ernest Sports has conducted tests to verify the accuracy of its ES12 with Chris Voshall (Club engineer at Mizuno) and Shawn Koch (Pro at the Country Club of the South, GA).
This test was used to compare the results of ES12 with another radar (Trackman), and a Bushnell laser. The shots are hit by the Mizuno Iron Byron.

With very little wind, the conditions were met to ensure the viability of the test. The report below shows ES12 in action with different types of balls, clubs and angles of impact. The accuracy of the ES12 and reactions of impact angles are impressive, see by yourself

WHAT DOES THE ES12 TRACK?
The ES12 measures distance.  The ES12 will measure the ball speed after impact and provides the distance.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE ES12?
The ES12 is warrantied for three months against any manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship and for all parts and labor.

DOES THE ES12 CONVERT MEASUREMENTS TO METRIC?
Yes, you will be able to program your ES12 to provide measurements in yards or meters.

WHERE CAN I FIND THE USER MANUAL?
The user manual can be found on the ES12 drop down menu under manuals.

HOW IS THE ES12’s DATA STORED AND RETRIEVED?
The information from practice sessions is stored on the ES12 smartphone app under “Range Session>Historical Data”.

WHAT IS THE BATTERY LIFE?
The ES12 is powered by a standard 9V battery, included in the unit. The standard life of a 9V battery in this devise is about 17 hours.

CAN THE ES12 BE USED INDOORS AND OUTDOORS?
The ES12 can be used both indoors and outdoors.

WHY ARE SOME OF MY SHOTS NOT READING?

Make sure your ES12 is properly positioned, it should be 14 inches away from your ball and 14 inches forward from that point. The unit’s logo side, should face toward the target. If the shot is hit thin, the ball will be under the radar area. Also the unit does not work with some limited flight balls or some floating balls.

DOES THE ES12 RUN ON CONTINUOUS USE OR IS THERE A HIBERNATE MODE?

If the ES12 remains idle for 8 minutes, it will automatically power off.   Your data will be stored and saved on your smartphone application.

 

HOW MUCH IS THE SMARTPHONE APP?
The Ernest Sports, ES12 smartphone app is Free with the purchase of an ES12.

Notethe ES12 Club Fit App has a onetime fee of $19.

WHAT SMART PRODUCTS WORK WITH THE ES12 FREE APP?

All iOS Apple iphones, ipads and Andriod phones and tablets.

 

Where do I find the code to activate my ES12?
The activation code can be found in 3 different spots:
1.) On the Box, 2.) Quickstart Guide and on the 3.) back of the ES12.
The blue boot will need to be removed to view the barcode & activation code. The activation code, it must be entered in upper case.

DO YOU HAVE TO USE AN EAR PIECE TO HEAR FEEDBACK FROM THE ES12?
The audible voice associated with the ES12 comes from your smart device.  Any ear piece that is compatible with your smart device and connects to your smart device may be used.
